Hi DC,
ich kann alle drei klar beantworten, aber diese Antwort ist leider: Keine Ahnung. Hyaenidae gibt es seit am mindestens den Lower Miocene (ca. 16 - 24 Mio J.). Canidae ist noch älter; Middle Eocene (37 - 49 Mio J.). Wie sie sich damals benommen haben, weiß ich nicht. Nur weil man ein Hund ist, bedeutet es nicht unbedingt, dass man ein Mitglieder eines Strassen-Gangs sein muß.

Meanwhile, back in the Cretaceous:
Species: Vincelestes neuquenianus Bonaparte JF, 1986
Place: La Amarga Formation, Patagonia
Country: Argentina
Age: Hauterivian, Lower Cretaceous
Remarks: Known from remains of nine individuals from the same site, including six skulls. Different age groups seem to be represented. This assemblage could be an indication of a social lifestyle. In its day, this was a fairly hefty mammal, probably reaching over 30cm in length. Hu et al, 2005 (p-13) report a lower jaw length of 7.4cm in their Supplemental Data, which is only four millimetres less than known from the larger Gobiconodon species, (G. ostromi).
